Col. Christopher L. Winders,
Chief of Police
Chief Winders joined the Anchorage Police Department December 11, 2000.
He served 24 years with the Jefferson County Police Department and retired in November 1999 at the highest merit rank as a Captain.
While there, he served in the David, Charlie and Baker Districts and also Narcotics and Criminal Investigations. Chief Winders is
a certified SCUBA instructor and a past commander of the JCPD Dive Team. He is a graduate of the University of Louisville with a B.S.
in Police Administration.
Gary Burkhead,
Officer
Officer Burkhead was hired by the Anchorage Police Department in June 1999. Gary
has been a police officer for 16 years, a fire fighter for 20 years and an EMT for 19 years.
Brian Warren,
Lieutenant
In 1999, after
serving in the Air Force as a member of the Security Police, and 7 ½ years with the Shelby County Police Department, Brian joined
the Anchorage Police Department. He is an instructor for the ASP Baton, trained on O.C. “Pepper” spray, and is the assistant firearms
instructor for the department. Brian is also a member of the American Society for Law Enforcement Training.
Mark Hoskins,
Officer
Officer
Hoskins has been with the Anchorage Police Department since 1999. He spent three years as a civilian fire investigator and six years
as a sworn fire investigator for Pewee Valley Police Department. For 1½ years he was with the Oldham County Sheriff’s Office as a
lead criminal investigator for violent crimes and arson, and criminal intelligence. Specialized training includes: nationally certified
fire investigation, post blast investigations, crime scene techniques, gangs and criminal intelligence, field training, patrol tactics,
child sexual abuse and EMT training.
Steve Yount,
Officer
Officer Yount was hired by the Anchorage Police Department in May 1995 after
working 8 years with the Shelbyville Police Department. His training includes: firearms instruction and field training, LINK/NCIC
state computer certification, breath test operation, and first responder for medical emergencies.
Steve Lutts,
Officer
Officer Lutts was hired by the Anchorage Police Department in July 1995. He had previously served 10 years as an
officer with the University of Louisville.
Matt Hedden,
Lieutenant
Officer Hedden was hired by the Anchorage Police Department in December
2000. He had previously worked seven years as a sergeant with the Shelbyville Police Department. He is currently pursuing a degree
in Justice Administration at the University of Louisville. Matt’s career interests include training and drug enforcement.
Mark McDonald,
Officer
Officer McDonald has been with APD since September of 2003. Prior to coming to APD he was with the Jefferson County Police
Department and Louisville Metro Police Department for 26 years retiring as a lieutenant.
Joe Hornek,
Officer
Joe joined the Anchorage
Police Department in November of 2005. He is a retired sergeant with Louisville Metro Police Department. Joe is an expert accident
reconstructionist and served with LMPD's Traffic Unit as a reconstructionist. He is also a past member of the Underwater Search and
Recovery Unit. Joe comes to us with over 28 years of policing experience.
